Reading Habits and Reading Nook

I discovered this post through Stefanie blog post. She said that it was tagged to everyone, so everyone can join. The questions here are so interesting to answer, and it's all about reading habits. Why don't give it a try? It seems fun. Let's check it out! :)

Picture taken from here.

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

No. I don't have any certain places. I read anywhere I can access a book. As a mom of two kids (a toddler and a baby), you know that kids could be everywhere...so I read wherever my kids are, as long as I can find a comfort position.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmark. I tend to loose it everytime I use another method to mark my reading, even when I fold down the page. Bookmark is a more effective way,  and it's pretty nice to have it there among the papers in your book. I love cute bookmarks too. ;)

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

I can stop reading anytime. Just make sure I reach a period in the end of the sentence. If I get lost, I re-read some parts back.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

BOTH. I'm kind of person who love to read something while I have my meals. My parents protest me a lot for this habit as they think it's unpolite behavior on dinner table. But I'm still doing it, till today. :)

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I don't mind to have music or TV on or even another kind of noise while I'm reading, I usually ignore it all and focus on what I read.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

Definitely one book at a time or I will get confused. If I read several books at once, it would mess into each other. :D

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere. I read in my way to the office, in coffee shop, or while queueing the doctor.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently. Reading aloud only happen when I study for exam and try to memorize all the materials :D I don't know why, sometimes it's easier to get it in into your brain when you mention it with sound. But it won't work for fiction, reading aloud will break the joy. Not to count reading activities with kids, of course you have to read it aloud for them.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I have a bad habit, I can't resist to read last page before I reach it. But I'm trying my best to avoid it because it sometimes ruin things.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I never break the spine, not either fold down the paper on purpose, but with kids running around it's difficult to keep the book I read like new. There will be a little dirt, a little fold, a little wet... :D But the point is, I read it, right? Rather than having perfect neat book on shelf that you don't read. Eventhough I also have some kind of it on my TBBR (To-Be-Read-Review) book pile that has not been touched yet.

11. Do you write in your books?

Yes, sometimes. Sometimes I wrote my name on it, sometimes I signed it, sometimes (especially for English edition) I wrote down the Indonesian meaning after I checked the dictionary for some words that I didn't know before.

So those are my answers to the questions. If you want to, you can join this tag and make a post of your own, then share it to us. Have fun! :)
